this is really my first real go at the books of prophecy.. so if i'm out of order.. somebody check me.. ok.. here we go.
so i'm readin Ezekial 13, and we got the nation of israel under judgement from God right. God is telling Ezekial to run tell the false teachers they're in trouble pretty much.
The false prophets have been giving the nation of israel a false sense of security and in the words of ezekial...

so they're building their little "security wall" and painting it to look nice.. but that join is maaaaad weak.. and God says he'll pummel it. I get that.
First.. that's not a physical wall is it? this is a metaphor for israel feeling safe from God's wrath and the nations around them? right? I read 12 yesterday and picked up that the Isrealites had pretty much counted God out saying that he's not around and lawlessness picked up. so these false prophets who obviously don't have the fear of God in them begin to "speak prophecies" that are just mere thoughts from their own sinful minds.
here's where i would like to stop and discuss
when i read that.. i can't help but take that exact same situation.. and overlay it on the church today.
it's been 2000 years since Christ death and we have a LOT of false teaching and prophecy going on... and people are listening to this and getting false senses of "eternal security" because you got cats preachin "PEACE PEACE" when it ain't that sweet. (starts with an o... rhymes with oh steen... LOL). Cats reject the teaching of hell.. or even God's election, falling into all types of diverse teachings.. and these guys are pretty much getting away with it for now but the day is comin...
i know that i can't make that kind of leap and say "hey... the Bible is talkin about this!!!"... this was for a specific time and specific people.. but man.. if you can't see the parallels.
am i misreading here?
