Was Jesus rich ?

WOFalites like to ask this question .. wayyyy to much ... how do we answer ?

ok.... he was a traveler, his disciples didn't have much money on them.... in fact when they were sent with the others (70 were sent to villages and towns) they didn't take coins with them.....

we see no clear evidence in scripture that would prove the wealth of Jesus.... he was a carpenters son by family they were not rich folk.... He Himself was a preacher/prophet to the people.... even poorer folk on the pay scale..... but He never went hungry....

given that... we must assume then that He wasn't rich or it would have been mentioned.... this is one doctrinal error of WOFers..... another is that contentment means working towards riches, but still praising God......

2 Corinthians 8:9 - "For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich."

No doubt someone could butcher the meaning of this verse.

great verse. that passage refers to His riches in glory in comparison to his time on earth, in which he was in contrast "poor". through His leaving heaven to minister to us and die and resurrect for our sins, we can attain salvation, thusly receiving our just reward in heaven. that doesn't refer to our "riches" on earth, it's talking about our heavenly reward for our faith in and following Christ.
